What is MySMB?
A free, independent media brand for New Zealand small business owners. We make short videos that show you how to start, run and grow a business, write each one up in full with answers and official sources, and send a short brief at 6am every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The brief, the videos and every write-up are free, and they'll stay that way. Insiders, a paid membership with templates, partner deals and a monthly expert Q&A, opens soon from NZ$19 a month.
When does the brief arrive?
At 6am New Zealand time on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It takes about five minutes to read: the week's video, what changed in tax and law, one tool worth trying and a Kiwi win to get you going.
Are the videos out yet?
Our first episodes are in production now. Until they land, every episode is ready to read in full on this site, with its key takeaways, answers and the official sources. Titles marked Coming soon are planned and not out yet.
Why is nobody presenting?
MySMB has no human host. The brand is one narrator's voice, one look and Kev, our cardboard kiwi, who runs a tiny cafe and turns up to explain the tricky bits. When you do see a face, it's a guest: a real owner, an accountant or an expert. The person accountable for what we publish is named on our About page.
Is this financial or legal advice?
No. It's general information to help you make better decisions and ask better questions. Rules and rates change, so every episode links to the official source, such as IRD, business.govt.nz or Employment New Zealand. For decisions about your business, talk to a qualified adviser.
